Moscow artist Anton Gudim has gained fame as the artist of many almost viral comics and minimalist illustrations that sarcastically mock various aspects of modern life. But the most popular was a series of comics “Yes, but”, where he vividly, in a satirical way, depicts the contradictions of our lives. Usually he presents some phenomenon from two sides - positive and negative, and then it's up to the viewer to decide what ultimately outweighs: pluses or minuses. And he does it in a really funny and witty way, with a lot of sarcasm and absurdity.
Out of charge
Sometimes his pictures are quite obvious, it's just that many people don't think about a particular situation, especially when it doesn't concern them. They are about everything that surrounds us: everyday life in offices, traveling around the city, relationships between men and women. But it is this closeness to the ordinary life of most people that attracts the artist: sometimes it is useful to look at yourself from the outside. It is both funnier, if you see some absurdity, and more useful, because it allows you to think and change something in your behavior and attitude to some things and phenomena, so as not to be like the typical characters in his comics.
Together
Anton Gudim started drawing as a child, but at first he didn't even think of making it his main profession. He studied to be an engineer, but like many graduates, he never worked a day in his specialty. He got a job as an office clerk and worked in the office for quite a long time, creating many illustrations on the subject. According to the artist - the main thing in the artwork of an office clerk is not especially to think about their situation and “do not dig deep”: the day passed - and okay. But if you start to do it, at least for the sake of creativity, everything becomes quite sad.
What to do late at night
After artwork, Gudim would usually go home and instead of sitting in front of the TV, he would draw comics. According to him - this is a kind of need of the soul, the opportunity to at least in drawings to express everything that he saw and that accumulated during the day. In general, a real outlet, which, thanks to a good sense of humor, the ability to notice the absurdities in our lives, later became almost a second profession and a source of income.
Pantyhose
But so far Gudim has not given up his main work, perhaps it's because his comics are oriented to the Internet and social networks, where they are watched with great pleasure, but few people are willing to pay the artist extra.
Vacuum-packed sausage
However, Gudim is not discouraged: drawing comics has allowed him to brighten up his everyday life, because at some point he began to categorically lack creativity in his work. He draws quite quickly: from 2 to 8 hours per comic book, but it takes time to come up with a good idea, and sometimes it can take months for it to come to its final graphic form.
Mesh
Usually he draws in a graphic editor, but he can also draw with pencils, just, according to the artist, it takes more time. But Gudim has managed to form his own easily recognizable style, which is not immediately possible for many venerable artists.
Workplace
But the main thing is that his comics are close and understandable to the people, and therefore always find their admirers.
