Various artists have created a lot of comics, cartoons and cute drawings about cats and dogs, just remember the famous cats by Victor Chizhikov or ironic and gloomy cartoons by Vasi Lozhkin. But what to do if you want something original and quite unusual. Here to help came Russian artist Ekaterina Bezrukova, who created a famous series of drawings about the dragon. And, as it turned out, this majestic fantasy creature is quite possible to imagine in our lives, and such a peculiar character, around which there are many legends, gives limitless scope for the display of a variety of stories, which, already due to the unusual nature of their protagonist, will always be original and fresh.
Idea
Katya Bezrukova, who is better known under the nickname KoDa, like many artists, began to draw from childhood, but the girl lacked perseverance, and therefore she preferred boring classes at art school to socializing with friends, games and walks. But the talent was enough to learn to draw independently and at a very good level. Her comics are distinguished by high-quality "professional" drawing, competent selection of colors and thoughtful composition.
I am not blue, I am green
However, a certain amount of laziness has not gone anywhere, so the artist prefers to work quickly, trying to spend no more than 2-3 hours on a drawing. However, it all depends on the theme and thoroughness of drawing, some of Bezrukova's creations take several days to complete.
Expectation and reality
And the idea to draw dragons came because she could not choose whether it was better to depict cats or dogs. And then she gave up on this "difficult" choice and decided on a dragon. Perhaps this was the key to her success: she has been drawing pictures from the "Abode of the Golden Dragon" series for 10 years and has become one of the most famous online artists. She has a lot of fans, and not only among teenagers, who are looking forward to a new series of drawings, good with imagination Bezrukova all right, and she can work quickly, and not at the expense of quality.
Don't eat the knight in armor!
Because of the peculiarity of the main character, some drawings are distinguished by a certain amount of "black humor": after all, a dragon is not a cute kitten. But they are still "soft", without physiological details, it feels that they were drawn by a girl who doesn't really like excessive naturalism. Perhaps it's right - this way the drawings are more universal, corresponding to today's generally accepted standard of 12+, in which most blockbusters are shot.
Give me the money!
By the way, Bezrukova is self-taught, but the quality of her drawings is steadily improving - after all, you can learn a lot in 10 years of drawing her dragon. Her first artworks were black and white, they were more about the original idea and humor rather than drawing, so they were closer to classic cartoons. The current ones are more like quality ironic illustrations, with good detail and competent choice of colors.
A candlelight vigil
It is even hard to believe that they were painted by a girl who did not study painting anywhere. However, Arkhip Kuindzhi was also a self-taught artist, which did not prevent him from creating real masterpieces, such as "Moonlight Night on the Dnieper".
Why hit right away
Perhaps the main problem of Bezrukova's comics is a certain lack of proper brevity: the artist begins to conduct dialogues on behalf of her characters, draws unnecessary "clouds" with inscriptions, which somewhat worsens the overall perception. But she still has everything ahead of her, you just need to remember the old truth: "brevity is the sister of talent".
