Art of Japan in the Edo period (1603–1868).
Exhibition of Japanese prints of the 18th–19th centuries from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum.
The history of the emergence and flourishing of woodblock printing in Japan in the 17th–19th centuries is associated with the onset of a peaceful era after a long period of civil wars. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see prints that decorated Japanese houses, courtyards, and even estates. Participants in the exhibition and excursions will also see "water" paintings by famous Japanese engravers: Nishimura Shigenaga, Harunobu, as well as landscape painters Katsushika Hokusai and Andō Hiroshige
