I painted this oil painting on a 24"x24" canvas.
Portraying a glimpse of the splendor of Heaven through a single still life seemed insurmountable at first, but through the inspiration of early 19th century painter Abbott Handerson Thayer’s painting “Winged Figure” (set as the backdrop of this piece), a few draped ribbons, and two roses glistening in the light... the clouds above us seem to part for just a brief moment.. Cascading yellow and golden ribbons represent the streets of gold, the rose bending to look
down upon us represents God the Father, who sent his Son Jesus Christ, portrayed in the form of a shining white rose (for He alone can wash us white as snow) resting upon the shimmering golden cloth. May you feel the comfort, peace and joy that only God can provide as you are wrapped in His beautiful hope.
