Piotr Jabłoński is a contemporary Polish artist and art designer who creates impressive digital artworks combining fictional fantasy elements and real environments, which makes them more authentic and convincing. The style of his works is surrealism colored with dark noir motifs, somewhat reminiscent of Zdzisław Beksiński's paintings.

Not surprisingly, Jabłoński was invited to Arkane Studios, where he created artwork for the popular series of games “Dishonored”. However, Jabłoński's track record is not limited to this project alone, he is quite a sought-after artist, and his imagination is good, and the technical development of his artwork is at a high level.

Jablonski comes from the Polish city of Bialystok. He has loved drawing since childhood, after school he started studying architecture at the local university, but painting and artistic art attracted him more, so he studied them on his own and, as it seems, mastered them at a very good level.

However, he was inspired not by classical works of art, but by contemporary pop art, in particular, comics by Simon Beasley, Todd McFarlane, paintings by Beksinski and graffiti, which he loved to paint as a child. However, he admits that he is constantly discovering new artists who deepen and broaden his understanding of painting. Something he later applies in his own works.

Many of Jablonsky's paintings are made in the style of dark fantasy, but he does not consider himself a big fan of horror and says that he just likes strange and unusual things that are impossible to see in the real world. For him it is important to paint atmospheric and emotional works, and the easiest way to achieve such an effect is to create mystical artworks, though a bit scary, but allowing the viewer to guess the story depicted on them.
THE GRAY ONES GATHER / Dishonored: Death of the Outsider
He was attracted to the “Dishonored” series of games because, like in his earlier artwork, there is a fantasy world, partly similar to the real one, but living and acting according to its own laws. Based on the lore of the game, he created a series of works called “Serkonan Legends”, which was warmly welcomed by fans. However, there is something to look at for ordinary viewers who are far from computer games, because Jablonsky's art is quite universal.

Jablonsky was also one of the authors of the monumental painting “Fight For Freedom”, something reminiscent of the works of academicians, only in the style of heroic dark fantasy.

He was responsible for the composition and poses of the characters, and, according to him, this work, thanks to modern technology, lasted about 40 days, although previously academic artists painted similar large-scale multi-figure canvases for years.
Three Under his Eye
The beginning of any painting for Jablonsky starts with a sketch. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to arrive at the right compositional solution, but more often than not this work takes several days. And he does not always follow the rules of composition exactly and claims that the best effect can be achieved if these rules are broken. Creativity is a complex process, and it cannot be limited by any framework, otherwise the paintings turn out to be monotonous and boring.

According to Jablonsky, it is important for an artist to do what he or she likes, and if you make every effort, the result will be on the level. But you should not follow popular trends and adjust to the demands of social networks, that is, draw some inane comics and pictures with narrative populist statements. Perhaps it is easier to achieve cheap popularity, but serious customers from such a grief freelancer will stay away. However, truly talented and extraordinary artists customers will always find and invite to their projects. You just need to put your work on the Internet with the indication of contacts and be ready to criticize.

Jablonski must have listened to criticism very carefully, as many of his paintings are truly impressive. After all, this is a modern view of painting, and given the popularity of the Internet and computer games, it is much more likely that his digital artwork will be seen and appreciated by more viewers than if he had simply participated in any art exhibitions in the old-fashioned way. New technologies dictate their own rules, and one can only accept it.
